NeedOne Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information NeedOne ("the app", "we") collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.

Who this is for

NeedOne is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 years old to use it, because the app facilitates real-world meetups between users.

Information we collect

Information you provide directly:

• Name and email address (when you create an account)
• A profile picture, if you choose to upload one
• A short bio, if you choose to add one
• Your general area/location as text you type in (e.g. "Riverside")
• The sports you play and your self-rated skill level per sport
• Games you post (title, description, location text, date/time, cost if set)
• Comments you post on games
• Direct messages you send to other users
• Actions like who you invite, follow, add to your crew, block, or report, and any details included in a report
• Ratings and Player of the Match votes you give other players

Information collected automatically:

• Basic account activity: which games you join or leave (this powers the in-app "reliability" percentage and games-played count)
• Precise device location, only when you actively use the distance-search filter on the Games tab, and only for as long as needed to calculate distance to nearby games. This requires your permission, requested the first time you use that filter. You can decline and still use every other part of the app.
• A push notification token, if you allow notifications — a device identifier used only to deliver notifications to your device, not to identify you personally
• If you use "Add to calendar" on a game, the app requests calendar access to create that one event — we don't read or access the rest of your calendar

How we use this information

• To operate core features: showing games, connecting you with other players, following/followers, invites, messaging, comments
• To calculate your reliability percentage, games played, streak, and rating from your own activity and other users' input
• To send you notifications you've opted into (e.g. game reminders, new comments)
• To let you find games near you, if you choose to use the distance filter
• We do not sell your information to third parties
• We do not use your information for advertising

Who your information is visible to

• Your name, profile picture, bio, sports, skill level, reliability, and rating are visible to other users of the app — this is how the app works, helping you find and coordinate with other players
• You can make your profile private in Settings, which hides you from the Players list and hides your bio from anyone who doesn't follow you
• Games you post are visible to other users so they can join them, unless you mark a game private
• Comments on a game are visible to anyone who can see that game
• Direct messages are only visible to you and the person you're messaging
• Blocking another user is mutual and immediate — neither of you will see each other's content, and a blocked user can't message or invite you

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored using Supabase, a third-party database and authentication provider. Supabase stores data securely and acts as our data processor — they don't use your data for their own purposes.

Your choices and rights

• You can edit your name, area, bio, and profile picture at any time in Settings
• You can make your profile private, or hide your game attendance from your followers' feed, at any time in Settings
• You can block or report another user at any time, and undo a block at any time in Settings
• You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Danger Zone — this permanently deletes your account, profile, and posted games, and cannot be undone
• You can turn off notifications, or decline location/calendar permission, at any time — the app remains usable without them, aside from the specific feature each one enables

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your personal data is permanently removed, though some game records you were part of may remain associated with the game itself (e.g. a game you attended may still show as having had a participant, without identifying you, once your account is gone).

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. If changes are significant, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify users in the app.
